Dr. Wieder is a Boulder native, and he began his interest in medicine at an early age. When he was about twelve years old, he crushed his finger in a climbing accident, and visited with an orthopedist who encouraged his interest by chatting with him about medicine. The orthopedist even offered to let the future Dr. Wieder go on rounds with him! Years later, after multiple broken bones from an active sports career, he graduated with the Boulder High class of 1974. Dr. Wieder completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his Residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Utah Medical Center in 1992.

Upon completing his residency, Dr. Wieder joined the Mapleton Hill team in Boulder. Over the years, he has worked with a large spectrum of patients, from marathon runners to senior citizens, all of which present unique challenges he enjoys. Dr. Wieder has developed a specialty in sports medicine and a strong interest in arthroscopic shoulder and knee reconstructions. He has performed hundreds of these types of surgeries on Boulder’s young, active population.

Dr. Wieder and his wife live in Sunshine Canyon in Boulder with their two children. When not at the Mapleton clinic or on-call, Dr. Wieder is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys backpacking, fly-fishing, skiing and cycling in the Colorado outdoors.
