Dr.
David Roter is the Founder and senior partner of Mapleton
Hill Orthopaedics, having been in orthopaedic practice in Boulder
for the past thirty years.
Originally from Michigan, Dr. Roter relocated to Colorado
in 1963 to complete his undergraduate education at the University
of Colorado and went on to finish his Medical School and Orthopaedic
Residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
He began practice in Boulder in 1974 and his love of this
community and of Colorado have kept him here ever since.
Board certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery,
Dr. Roter has had broad experience and training in all aspects
of orthopaedics, but has specialized experience and interest
in total joint replacement, arthroscopy knee surgery, and
treatment of sports injuries. Dr Roter strives to stay abreast
of the emerging technologies and techniques in orthopaedics
while having the historical perspective of many years of practice
experience.
Concurrent with his orthopaedic education, Dr Roter served
as Battalion Surgeon for the 19th Special Forces
Group; personally participating in Airborne and Special Forces
training as well as supervising training of the medical support
staff. He attained the rank of Major in the Medical Corps.
With the perspective of age, he no longer jumps out of perfectly
good aircraft however.
To
help finance his medical education, Dr Roter worked in several
gold and molybdenum mines, developing a lasting interest in
Colorado Mining History and mineralogy. He has restored the
historic Terror Mine in Eldora, Colorado. Dr Roter and his wife Candace live in the mountains west
of Boulder.
